The emotional and informational support intervention program was executed 2 times for 2 weeks. Program consisted of education about stroke by guidebook and counseling, was given for the experimental group. Data were analyzed using ¥ö2, Fisher s exact test, and independent t-test with SPSS 14.0 program.

Results: There were statistically significant decrease in burden, but depression was not statistically significant by difference between a pre-test and a post-test in the experimental group compared to that in the control group.

Conclusion: The result of this study indicate that the Emotional and Informational Support Intervention program was effective in decreasing burden although not statistically significant reduction in depression. Therefore, it can be a way to reduce burden of primary caregivers caring stroke patients.
